Artisanal, Sustainable and Genderless

For this Fall / Winter 2021/2022 season, we are pleased to introduce a new designer who enhances our continuous search for details, originality and above all, avant-garde. The unmistakable Flemish style, the beating heart of European creativity, could only bring us back, sooner or later, to Antwerp. And this is where we had the honor of knowing Jan-Jan Van Essche's philosophy. Jan-Jan van Essche is an Antwerp-born designer and craftsman who focuses on creating genderless, timeless garments with unusual and original shapes. Jan-Jan Van Essche exalts the radical elimination of cultural and gender differences with the use of seams and minimal details, while exploiting the comfort of the garments thanks to their softness and the fabrics of essentially natural fibers and colors. Appreciated for his research on materials, he focuses on traditional techniques of weaving, padding and patchwork, Jan-Jan Van Essche continually challenges the boundaries of artisanal design that does not make use of extremely modern technologies but of traditional looms and machinery. The obsessive search for ancient traditions of textile production led him to travel around the world and invariably contaminate his modern cosmopolitan style.
